September 2006
A new flu season is quickly approaching. Once again, I find myself holding my breath in anticipation. I hope that one year I will finally be able to enjoy the fall again without my stomach getting tied up in knots.
The news reports that I have read are stating that at this time they do not see a vaccine shortage for this years flu season. I do hope this is true. I for one will feel better once our family has been vaccinated. I urge you to talk with your doctors to see if the flu vaccine is right for your family. I know many people are concerned with the use of thimerosal in vaccines. I recently read an interesting article on this concern. You can view it at http://www.chop.edu/vaccine/images/vec_thimerosal.pdf. Also remember that something as simple as washing your hands can help prevent the spread of the flu.
The CDC will begin publishing their flu maps in October. Once they do I will start forwarding the maps on to you along with other information that I run across. If you have not yet signed up to receive information from Ian's Rainbow Flu Foundation you may subscribe from our Home page.
Stay Healthy and Happy,
Julie
