February 2007
I'm sorry it has taken me so long to update the newsletter. This time of year is always difficult for my family, but this year some
very close friends lost their daughter in December after a tough fight against a heart condition. It broke my heart knowing the pain
that they are going through. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.
This year's flu season seems to have gotten off to a late start. I only hope that it will continue to be a somewhat mild flu season.
Recently several children from different parts of the country have died from complications of influenza. I have attached a couple
of articles about several of these children. (Read Articles) We have to continue to remember that the flu can be deadly! We
have had several mild flu seasons and I think this has made some people forget how serious influenza can be. Remember basic
hand washing is a good way to help prevent the spread of flu along with staying away from infected people as much as possible.
Another great way to help prevent the spread of the flu is to get your flu vaccine. It's not to late. Check with your health care
provider about getting your family vaccinated. If any of your children do catch influenza, remember that NO ONE knows your
child better than you. You have to be an advocate for you children. Follow your instincts!
Stay Happy and Healthy,
Julie
